Alabama Shakes appear to be working on new music, teasing their first new release in a decade after unexpectedly making their live comeback in December.

Alabama Shakes’ last proper concert was eight years ago at Montreal’s Osheaga festival, after which singer/guitarist Brittany Howard embarked on a successful solo career. The group reunited for a secret nine-song set last month in Tuscaloosa, Al., and Howard also debuted her new hardcore band, KUMITE, at a recent show in Nashville.

The Alabama Shakes reunion, which began in Tuscaloosa on Dec. 18 at the Bama Theatre, may be expanding into more live work and possible recordings.
