Thai and Cambodian officials met in Malaysia on Monday, as ceasefire between the two Southeast Asian neighbors holds, according to a statement.

Long-simmering tensions between Thailand and Cambodia escalated to deadly violence on July 24, setting off five days of military clashes at multiple spots along the roughly 800-kilometer (500 mile) border.

Thailand expects border tensions with Cambodia to improve after the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting planned for later this week.
