Apple’s decision this week to build a massive facility in Houston for making AI servers could mark a resurrection of the region's tech past that began with Texas Instruments in the 1970s, continued with Compaq Computer Corp.

Apple is opening a new manufacturing facility in Houston to produce servers that support its artificial intelligence system as part of a larger $500 billion spending plan in the U.S.

Apple announced 20,000 new jobs across the country in the next four years. Thousands of those will be in the Houston area, where Apple announced plans for a new AI server factory. It will be a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility opening in 2026. The location has not yet been released.
