Wood got the nickname from his father, Brian Gould, when he was born weighing over 11 pounds. The new Phillies pitcher would put "Fat Head" on the back of his travel ball jerseys growing up.

The selection of Gage Wood, along with an influx of other college pitchers, might be signaling change for the Phillies, both in the next couple of weeks and next couple of years.

It marked the first time the Phillies had selected three pitchers with its first three draft picks since 1994.
