Four days from the All-Star break, Manny Machado still has not taken a game off this year. He has had a handful of “half-days” off. Thursday’s series finale will be one of those days as Machado will serve as the DH for the 6:40 p.

The Padres star may be no “Johnny Hustle.” But he entered the 2,000 hit club Monday and is on track for the Hall of Fame due to his remarkable determination.

After lining a first-inning single for his 1,999th hit, he produced a 109 mph ground ball in the fourth to capture a piece of history.

Manny Machado has 2,000 career hits. The Padres star accomplished that feat while batting for San Diego against Arizona Monday.

According to Padres broadcaster Mark Grant, as well as many fans, there's no debating the third base spot for the All-Star Game.
